Why hello there! My name is Haley and I am a twenty-something daughter, sister, friend, musician, swimmer, and former-teacher living in central Illinois. I moved to this ever growing twin city for college in 2004, intending only to stay for school, graduate, and then return to the suburbs. Little did I know that God had other plans. After falling in love with my Savior and an incredible church family, I discovered that this little part of Illinois was where he would call me to be for the next ten years. Those past ten years have been a lot about self-discovery and acceptance. After years of mental self-abuse, I started to really focus on what my strengths are. It's been a time of healing and overcoming in so many areas and I'm thrilled to share some of those victories here!!
I'm proud to say that I'm currently in the midst of a journey to fitness and better health. Since January of 2013 I have lost
61 70+ lbs! You will read a
lot about my weight loss journey on this blog in addition to the recipes, health
tips, and life stuff that I write about. Through my own striving for better
health and a better quality of life, I have developed a passion for exercise
and nutrition. It's something I'm
finding success in after over 25 years of abusing my body with poor nutrition.
Something clicked in me December 31st, 2012 and I had decided enough was enough. Not to say that I don't still struggle from time to time. I am human, after all. In addition to this blog, I also have a page on Tumblr where I connect with other fit-girls and find inspiration to keep going. You can find that webpage HERE.
I originally started blogging back in 2010 as a way to document my sewing, craft, and cooking ideas to share with friends and family. But over the years this little corner of the internet has evolved into a place where I write about my passions. While I’ll continue to post recipes and maybe a few DIY ideas here and there, I made the decision in October of 2014 that it was time to rebrand and switch gears. So that’s where Ever BeYOUtiful was born. Through my efforts to better health and happiness, I have also just begun to discover who I am.
I’ve begun to appreciate who my Creator made me to be and only that. I’ve started to tackle the monsters of comparison, negative self-image, and false humility and encourage other women and young girls to love who God made them to be. I felt a sound calling from Jesus in October of 2014 that this is to be my life’s work: To build women up. To encourage them love themselves, care for themselves, and treat their bodies well through fitness and nutrition.
So thank you for taking the time to get to know me and hear the things I have to say. Be strong, brave one.
