Remembering

Mr. Fowler's sophomore biology class.
Front row.
Second seat from the right.

I can still hear the voice of my principal over the intercom. I can remember not truly understanding what had happened.  I can remember that it wasn't until my second hour class and seeing the horror on a tv screen, that I fully comprehended what was going on.

I can remember praying for the victims, our leaders, and  for my dad who worked in a tall building in Chicago.  I can remember walking to my mom's place of work after school and then walking home, still in shock.  I can remember the look on my dad's face as he sat on our front stoop, playing with our dog.  I can remember hugging my family once we were all home safe.  I can remember the newspapers and tv specials and converstations in the hallways of my high school.  I remember crying.  A lot.

I can remember how our country banded together.  I can remember how people treated eachother differently.  I can remember how lives were changed forever.  I can remember finding hope.

May we never forget what happened 13 years ago today and may we always find hope moving forward.
