Thoughts on a 3 Mile Swim

These were my stats last year.
I only swam a 2.5k.

(this is what the water looked like last year)
(really praying for smaller waves this year)
This year is a whole different ball game for 3 reasons.
1.  I will be swimming a 5k.  Yes.  3.2 miles.  Swimming.
2. I am in much better shape this year.  I'm 30+ pounds lighter and in much better shape than I was last year.
3. I've been swimming with an actual team. Which means that instead of just doing my own thing, I have been getting actual coaching and encouragement from my teammates.
This Saturday will mark a milestone for me.  Finishing this swim will make me feel like a bad ass.  Yeah, I just wrote that.  Sorry.
But it's the truth.  I cannot express how grateful I am to have a family that encourages me, a team that pushes me, and a faith that strengthens me.
Oh yes, Jesus is getting the credit for this one.

I have noticed a distinct pattern where times of distance from God are the hardest.  As I grow older, I am realizing more everyday that without Him, I can do very little.  He is the one who strengthens me.  I truly believe He gives me the will to get out of bed at 4:45am.  He is the one who gives me courage to resist temptation (when I listen to him).  He provides me with encouragement through his word and through his people.
With that... here's my video for the week.
