50 Things Part III

"Happy" Monday!  I'm in a very sarcastic mood today and am determined to enjoy a peaceful lunch break after a morning of printer problems and a monday morning meeting (in case you were wondering, those are not fun.) Here's the third installment of my 50 Things series.  You can read part I here and part II here.
21.      I love flowers.  Unfortunately, my weird cat likes to eat them so I rarely have them in the house.  Now that I live in a studio, I really can’t have them because I wouldn’t be able to even keep them in my room.  Sad panda.  But I do love them.  I think it’s amazing how many different ones there are, how delicate they can be, and how some of their fragrances can knock you over!  And flowering trees?  Probably one of God’s best ideas.
22.      I don’t really care for musicals.  Unless it’s a play, I really prefer characters to be talking instead of singing.  Especially musical films that employ actors that really CANNOT sing (aka Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia, Russell Crow in Les Mis, Christian Bale and Bill Pullman in Newsies).  I have come across a couple musicals that I enjoy, like Grease, Mary Poppins, and Across the Universe.
23.      Mexican food.  I know for a lot of people it has to be a rare thing to indulge in, but I could probably eat it every day.  That is if it weren’t drowning in calories because of all the fried corn and cheese.  I’ve had to find ways to make healthy Mexican food because I love it so much that I can’t seem to say goodbye.
24.      I’m extremely shy and introverted around people I don’t know.  Big crowds make me nervous and I have a hard time figuring out what to do with myself when surrounded by people I don’t know.  Once I get a conversation started though… well, you’ll have a hard time getting me to stop talking.
25.      I have a soft spot for elderly people.  I don’t know what it is but when I see elderly couples at the grocery store together, or holding hands on a walk, or even having dinner together in a restaurant I just get warm fuzzies inside.  Maybe just thinking about how much they’ve experienced gives me great respect for them.  Maybe it’s the funny things they say sometimes.  It could even be the way they’ve had to adapt over decades of changing trends and how some of them always try to continue learning new things.
26.      If I could have any super power it would most likely be teleportation.  Think about it… you’d never have to make car payments, buy gas, or fork out money for a plane ticket!  You could go anywhere!  This probably stems from the fact that I don’t have a lot of money, hate to fly, and am really itching to travel.
27.      I’m really hard on myself.  With almost everything I tend to question and beat myself up over things I can’t change.  Whether it be what could have been, what I should have done, what I shouldn’t have done, or really anything.  I get down on myself and worry about burdening anybody with anything.  Maybe I just want to be independent.  Maybe I’m a people pleaser.  Maybe I’m both.
28.      If I could go anywhere it would be Europe.  Really anywhere in Europe.  Just to see some history!  More specifically France.  Normandy, Marseilles, Nice, Versailles, Provence, Paris.  Yes please.
29.      I’m almost always early.  Parties, movies, church, work, meetings.  I have this fear of wasting people’s time and getting lost so I always leave early just to be sure I’m in the right place at the right time.  It’s awkward being the first person at a party but it obviously doesn’t bother me.
30.      The more I am around someone, the more I pick up their mannerisms.  In other words, I tend to talk and act like the people I with.  Good thing I never fell into a rough crowd in school because something tells me I’m easily influenced.
