Paris in the Rain

So I watched this film today, recommended to me by my mother.  She knowing me so well, knows my love of Paris.  She also knows that I secretly believe I was born in the wrong era.  This film combines both of these things.  It's beautiful.  The main character is a writer on vacation in Paris.  He is in love with the city.  The language, the history, the buildings, the people, everything.  He, like me, believes Paris is the most beautiful in the rain and was at its best in the 1920's.  He somehow manages to travel back in time each night at midnight and meets an array of characters.  He is engaged to a woman who does not see the beauty of the city. Needless to say, I was irritated with her. How could you not see all that Paris contains and appreciate it?

Now, I have never been there.  I've had friends that have been tell me it's dirty, people are rude, blah, blah, blah.  Please, we have plenty of dirty cities here in the US and oh yes... we have plenty of rude people here too.  But this... It's PARIS!  They have everything!  The history, the art, the music, the food, the fashion, the language!  It's no wonder they have the reputation for thinking they are better than any other culture.  They have so much beauty in one place.

I have a dream to one day see this remarkable city and take a walk in the rain.
